See exactly what your child will build at Alpha Santa Barbara
Every afternoon at Alpha Santa Barbara pairs two hands-on workshops. Pick your child's grade band and week to preview the exact lineup.
Crash Landing
Your child designs and builds landers to protect marshmallow astronauts from drops that increase in height each day, using NASA’s engineering design process. Drop height and available materials change daily, so your child cannot repeat the same design.
Friday Showcase
Friday they drop their final lander from 4 feet in front of you, check astronaut survival, read two engineering log entries (one failure, one fix), and explain one design change based on a failed test.
AI Robot Commanders
Your child builds an Arduino-based robot car from a kit and controls it using code generated by AI from plain-English commands. They discover by Day 2 that vague prompts produce broken code and specific prompts produce working code.
Friday Showcase
Friday they place the robot on the demo mat, read three commands aloud from their Command Sheet, run the code, and explain why one command produced a different result than expected.

Morning academics run as usual. In the afternoon, workshops give way to the end-of-week showcase — where your child presents what they built to an audience of families and guides. Pickup is still at 4:00 pm.
